Then and now.

Walker Bay from De Kelders, 6 months ago in summer:

And this morning, at the start of winter:

And still the wind blows!!

Winter is here!!!

And along with it, comes the wind and the waves:

There's no sense of scale here, but they are about four metres high!!

Tomorrow morning I'm planning on heading out to the other side of the bay to get more pic's like this, and if the wind keeps up, the waves should be bigger!

Down South.

So we (that's the VFR and I again) took a trip down south this morning.

As far as it is possible to go south on the continent of Africa:

Not quite "The Long Way Down" as the Viffer travelled from London in a container, but still, it's a UK registered bike at the bottom of the world ;)

Other than a plaque telling you where you are, and a nice lighthouse, there's not much there; but hey, been there, done that now!

Table Mountain.

I've travelled. Lots. Seen some wonderful places in the world, but this view is still my absolute favourite:

First winter storm!

Our first winter storm has been blowing through from the west/north-west for the past three days, winds peaking around 65km/h, and building up a swell in the Atlantic, so I took my camera down to the coast this afternoon:

Somehow I don't think "Three Summers" is going to sea until the wind changes direction, which will be around October/November...

Two weeks and two days old now,

She is! So far, so good. Starting to settle into a bit of a routine here, and little Rachel is doing well.

I, however am not. I have a hell of a sore neck; no one told me that holding a baby and staring down at her for ages is bad for posture!!!

Isn't she cute though (entirely biased opinion from my side!!)?

We're doing well here!

Dunno where the dark hair comes from, as both the First Mate and I were born blond, but the little 'un is behaving and doing all the things she needs to do to survive with very little encouragement. This is a good thing, ja?

She and the First Mate come home tomorrow. I wonder what Dusty-dog is going to think, as he literally follows the First Mate everywhere and has been in a big sulk while she's been away.

Oh dear.

Rachel...

...was born at 09:46B this morning.

Easter cruise.

Took "Three Summers" out for a ride two days ago, last opportunity before the big lifestyle change...

Tomorrow we are expecting the mini-skipper's birth, so while she went for a boat ride three days before her birth day, I wonder how long before her next ride?

I figure as soon as I can get a cradle-mount fixed in the cabin!

On the beach.

Can you believe it, our first walk on the beach since we got here!

Dusty-dog and the First Mate heading into a south-easter:

13 days to go...
